# Glowforge Wi-Fi Connection Troubleshooting

Sometimes, the Glowforge disconnects from the Georgia Tech network, either because the device's registration has expired or the person under whom it is registered has graduated. When this happens, the Glowforge is unable to connect to the computers in the space and thus becomes unusable.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note: the glowforge connects via the glowforge cloud to the AMS account. Thus; the glowforge is typically on the GTOther wifi while the AMS computers are on the AMS lab ethernet.
{% endhint %}

The entire process is 2 parts:

1. Connect the Glowforge to GTOther. It won't actually be connected to the internet, the second step you do on your computer to let GTOther accept your Glowforge connection.
2. Register the Glowforge on GTOther LAWN to connect it.

## Connect Glowforge to GTOther

Before you start anything, make sure the Glowforge is powered off. Use your personal device for this.

Follow these steps:

1. Go to setup.glowforge.com
2. Download the Glowforge Setup App (If you are using a pre-version 101 Chrome, you are not prompted to download the app)

3. Sign in to the AMS Glowforge account
 1. **NOTE:** Do not use the <aeromakerspace@gmail.com> account. Instead, use <amsinfo@gatech.edu> account.
4. Select the printer you are setting up. The Aero Maker Space uses a Glowforge Performance Series laser cutter.

5. Click on the Wi-Fi Setup step. This should open the **Connect Your Glowforge to Wi-Fi** page.
 1. Don’t navigate from the page or change your Wi-Fi settings during this process. **If you leave the setup pages before you’ve completed the process, you will have to start over.**
6. Turn on the Glowforge. To have the laser cutter search for Wi-Fi networks, press and hold the big button on the laser cutter for at least 10 seconds, until it glows teal. On the setup page, press **Continue.**
7. On the page, you will see that your Glowforge is now broadcasting a temporary Wi-Fi access point. On your computer or device, go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the Glowforge access point.
 1. **NOTE: You will be disconnected from the Internet for a moment while you complete the rest of the setup process.**

8. Once the computer has connected to the Glowforge, select the Wi-Fi network you want the Glowforge to connect to. For the AMS Glowforge, select "GTother."

9. Enter the password for the network. For GTother, it is: **GeorgeP\@1927**.
10. The glowforge will try to connect. **If that doesn't work, see below to connect it to GTOther!**
11. When you see the message that you’ve connected to your network, wait a moment until you see the **Setup Complete** message. The Glowforge has been reconnected to the Wi-Fi!

## Register Device on GTOther

To renew the registration (and allow the Glowforge to connect to GTOther), you have 2 options:

* \[PLEASE DO THIS] Connect the Glowforge by yourself. Your GTOther registration will last 6 months. After 6 months, you just have to re-register it.

 * Go to <https://portal.lawn.gatech.edu/> and log in
 * "Register a different device"\

 *

 ```
 ```
* \[SLOW, AVOID IF POSSIBLE] submit an incident report to GTAE facilities and request that the Glowforge be reregistered onto the GTother network. It is important to provide GTAE with the correct physical MAC address, as this information is essential to grant the Glowforge access to Georgia Tech's networks.

The physical MAC address of the laser cutter is: **F4:B8:98:16:A8:B5**

Once you or GTAE Facilities or have registered the device, proceed with the section above to connect the Glowforge back to GTother.

1.
2. Sign in to the AMS Glowforge account
